Direct Ancestor Story Mode
Starts from Alderman Homer R Lane and follows direct parent links generation by generation, with spouse and children context shown at each step.
This project brings the original Lane genealogy book to life as an interactive family map. The book is the foundation; newer family branches are added from our own research so descendants can reconnect with people, places, stories, and long-lost family treasures that were hard to see on the printed page.
Context: general history background. Evidence: Lane-specific records/snippets.
Story mode
Guided HyperFrames-style reel along this direct line from beginning to end: one beat per generation in order (oldest first → recent anchor). With Era chapter intros on, short chapter cards appear when birth centuries change. The reel runs once and stops at the last step. Press Escape while playing to pause.
Voice: leave Narrate scenes checked, then tap or click Play highlight reel (that counts as a user gesture—needed on phones and locked-down desktops). Narration uses the same stack as Listen: server voice when available, otherwise the browser—unmute the tab/system if you hear nothing.
